ITV commissions musical dating show Romeo & Duet from Goat Films

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned a music-themed primetime dating show called Romeo & Duet.

Created and produced by Goat Films, Romeo & Duet sees single love seekers standing on a balcony, Juliet-style, as they are serenaded by potential love matches they can hear but not see.

The singers have just one song to entice the singletons down from the balcony, only then will the pairs come face-to-face for the first time. The couples will then head off on a date to learn a duet that they must later perform on the show in a singing competition against the other couples.

The seven-part primetime series goes into production this month and will be broadcast on ITV later this year. Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse is the host.

Romeo & Duet is exec produced by Goat Films founder Mel Crawford and showrunner Christian Fletcher. It was developed from an original idea created by the prodco’s co-founder Ivor Baddiel and his brother, comedian David Baddiel.
