ITV coins another Catchphrase

UK broadcaster ITV has commissioned a second season of its revived gameshow Catchphrase.

The 9×45′ season will be produced by STV Productions and is to start filming in September, while additional celebrity specials (3×60′) have also been ordered.

New episodes of the gameshow, in which contestants identify well-known phrases with the help of visual clues, returned to ITV1 after an 11-year absence in April this year.

The series was commissioned by ITV’s controller of entertainment John Kaye Cooper. Local versions of the format have previously aired in Australia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland and Indonesia.

In related news, STV Productions today posted 84% growth in revenue in the first six months of 2013.

Rob Woodward, CEO of the Glasgow-based prodco, said: “We have delivered another strong financial performance with a further significant reduction in net debt.”
