ITV calls for unscripted programmes from POC/DDN-led prodcos for YouTube and ITVX

UK commercial broadcaster ITV is looking to commission six production companies led by people of colour (POC) and/or deaf, disabled or neurodivergent (DDN) people to each produce a 22-minute unscripted programme for its YouTube channel and streamer ITVX.

The one-off programmes would be shown during Black History Month and UK Disability History Month later this year but could also be programmed at other times. Each company will receive £50,000 (US$65,100) to make their programme and the closing date for submissions is April 26.

The commissions are part of ITV’s Fresh Cuts initiative, which is now in its fourth year. It is funded through the broadcaster’s diversity commissioning spend, a ring-fenced £80m pot for diverse projects over the next three years.

ITV’s commissioning editor Richard Botchway and Nahrein Kemp, talent, diversity, equity and inclusion lead, will oversee the programme and select the companies, who will be appointed by May. They said they are looking for “bold, entertaining unscripted ideas that show a unique vision.”
