Italy’s Giallo Channel picks up German drama Vet Jacobs – Agent on Occasion

MIPCOM: Germany’s OneGate Media has secured an international deal for the German TV series Vet Jacobs – Agent on Occasion (aka Nord bei Nordwest), licensing all 24 episodes to Italian free-to-air crime channel Giallo, part of the Warner Bros Discovery network.

Vet Jacobs – Agent on Occassion originally aired on ARD

Produced by Triple Pictures and originally airing on Germany’s ARD, the show’s combination of crime stories, ensemble cast and the picturesque Baltic Sea backdrop has struck a chord with German audiences, according to OneGate.

The story follows a former police officer who moves to the small town of Schwanitz to start a new life as a veterinarian. However, his peaceful life is frequently disrupted by local crimes, which he helps solve alongside the local police.

Three new episodes of the series are currently in production, further bolstering the show’s international appeal, the Hamburg-based distributor said on the eve of the Mipcom television market in Cannes, France.

The Giallo deal comes soon after OneGate Media’s recent sale of German drama Tatort to multiple territories and drama Baltic Crimes to 95 countries. OneGate has also had success with children’s programming, with The Peppercorns recently selling to Rai in Italy.

OneGate MD Tania Reichert-Facilides said: “This sale reflects OneGate’s commitment to bringing high-quality entertainment to the international market. The series’ outstanding cast and intriguing stories make it a marketable show for international viewers.”
