Milan-based Casta Diva Pictures, part of Casta Diva Group, has promoted Massimo Righini to chief operating officer (COO).

Massimo Righini

In his new role at Casta Diva, Righini will lead the prodco’s strategy, with a special focus on original formats in the entertainment unit and television productions. He will remain creative director alongside his COO role.

Righini joined Casta Diva in 2021 as chief creative officer, before which he was chief creative officer at Banijay-owned Nonpanic in Rome for three years. Prior to that, he was creative producer at Magnolia.

Over his 30-year career, Righini has also held multiple writer roles at companies including Sky Italia, Endemol Shine Italy, Rai and Gruppo Mediaset – the latter where he worked for a total of 18 years.

He has adapted 18 international formats for Italy, including the first two seasons of Il Collegio for Rai 2, Matrimonio a Prima Vista for Real Time, 7 Year Switch for Fox, La Talpa for Italia 1, Bake Off for Real Time, This Time Next Year for Discovery and Guess My Age.

The exec has also co-created numerous original formats, such as Singing in the Car for Sky Uno, Camionisti in Trattoria, Turisti for Dmax and Cortesie per l’Auto for Discovery, Me Contro Te Show for Disney and Celebration for Rai 1.

Righini said: “These days, we are witnessing the fruits of years of hard work, and we have many projects in store for the future. In 2025, Casta Diva Pictures will enter the realm of fiction with a TV movie about singer-songwriter Franco Battiato, followed by an eight-episode series for an OTT platform. Additionally, we are collaborating with a leading film production company on a major feature film project.”
