Italy’s Casta Diva hires Fremantle alum Alessandro De Rita to head drama and docs

Milan-based production company Casta Diva, part of Casta Diva Group, has appointed Alessandro De Rita as head of drama and documentary.

De Rita’s arrival further strengthens Casta Diva’s creative division, which in recent months brought in Paolo Mastromarino and Dimitri Cocciuti to enhance the company’s creative and development work.

De Rita began his career as story editor and creative producer at RTI Fiction, working on series such as Distretto di Polizia and Elisa di Rivombrosa.

He later founded his own company, Run To Me Film, specialising in documentary and factual programming. Among its productions was the four-part documentary series Ignoto 1, a coproduction with the BBC and Sky Italia about the Yara Gambirasio murder case.

De Rita went on to serve as exec producer at Pepito Produzioni, where he oversaw the creative production of the feature film Favolacce. He then joined Fremantle Media Italia as head of documentaries, where he produced Raffa, a docuseries about music and fashion icon Raffaella Carrà for Disney+.

Most recently, he was head of development at Eagle Original Content, supervising the creative production of two drama series for Rai Fiction and the feature film Stella Gemella for Rai Cinema.
