Israeli format Boom! moves from Atresmedia to Mediaset’s Cuatro in Spain

Boom! was created by July August Productions for Keshet Broadcasting

Spanish broadcaster Mediaset Espana has acquired the rights to Keshet International’s Israeli gameshow format Boom!, which were previously held by its main rival, Atresmedia.

Boom! has been broadcast in Spain for eight seasons on Antena 3, produced by Gestmusic, owned by Banijay Iberia. According to Spanish media reports, Mediaset will carry the new version of the format on its secondary channel, Cuatro, and it will be hosted by Christian Gálvez.

The new adaptation will be produced by Spanish prodco Mediacrest. The news was first reported by local news site Yotele and was confirmed by C21’s sister publication Cveintiuno.

The Boom! format was created by July August Productions in Israel for Keshet Broadcasting and is distributed internationally by Keshet International.

In addition to Spain, the format has a total of 21 international adaptations, including markets such as Colombia (Caracol), Argentina (Telefe), the US (Fox), France (TF1), Chile (TVN) and Hungary (TV2).

The show features two teams of four players each who have to defuse a total of 10 ‘bombs’ by answering questions, the answers to which are represented by coloured wires.
