The first international deals for the 52×11′ programme, which will air on Teletoon in Canada in 2016, have also seen Turner Broadcasting pick up the show for its French-language channels in Europe and Asia.

Elsewhere, Turner’s Cartoon Network has rights in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia, where pubcaster ABC will also air the series.

Disney, meanwhile, has picked up the show – the first series to be wholly created and produced inside Toronto-based Portfolio Entertainment’s new animation studio – for Southeast Asia.

Based on a concept from Peter Ricq and Philippe Ivanusic, the creators of YTV series The League of Super Evil, Freaktown is aimed at six- to 11-year-olds and follows a bunch of friendly freaks fighting against the forces of cuteness.
