International buyers sign up for long-running renovation franchise Chateau DIY

UK factual entertainment franchise Chateau DIY

MIPCOM: Long-running UK factual entertainment franchise Chateau DIY has sold to multiple broadcasters across several continents in new volume deals inked by UK-based distributor Cineflix Rights.

Produced by independent prodco Sparks Media Partners, the show has run to eight seasons on the UK’s Channel 4 and spawned a spinoff Château DIY: Living the Dream (8×60’), for the group’s second channel More 4.

Buyers announced on the first day of Mipcom include Canada’s pubcaster CBC for seasons 5-7; Australia’s Nine Network for season 7 and new Zealand’s TVNZ for the last two seasons.

European buyers include TV2 Denmark and TV2 Norway, both licensing seasons 5, 6, 7 and 8; France’s NRJ taking seasons 4, 5 and 6; RTL licensing season 1 for German-speaking Europe; AMC Networks International Central and Northern Europe (AMCNI CNE) taking seasons 5 and 6 for its Spektrum Home Channel in Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic; and Antenna Entertainment picking up seasons 4, 5 and 6 for its AXN Spin channels in Poland.

Additionally, both TV2 Denmark and AMCNI CNE have acquired spin-off series Château DIY: Living the Dream.

Chateau DIY sees first-time and seasoned owners of French chateaux engage in huge renovation projects to resurrect dilapidated and/or ruined historic castles around the country.
