International buyers acquire Lux Vide’s drama series Blanca ahead of market

Blanca first aired on Rai in Italy

M6 in France, Mediaset in Spain, Netflix in Italy, Globo in Brazil, MTVA in Hungary, AXN Mystery in Japan and SBS in Australia are among the buyers of Fremantle-owned Lux Vide’s drama series Blanca ahead of MipTV.

The 12×50′ series, about the life and times of a blind police suspect profiler who lost her sight as a child, has been a hit on Rai in Italy and is also set to be remade internationally following various option deals with unannounced companies.

Based on novels by Patrizia Rinaldi, Blanca won the DQ Craft Award 2021 at the C21 International Drama Awards last year.

Fremantle acquired a 70% stake in the Italian production company in March.

Lux Vide’s credits include: Medici, starring Dustin Hoffman, Richard Madden and Sean Bean (Netflix); Leonardo, starring Aidan Turner and Matilda De Angelis (Amazon Prime); and Devils, the high-stakes financial thriller starring Patrick Dempsey and Alessandro Borghi (Sky).

Lux Vide CEO and producer Luca Bernabei said: “I’m very confident that viewers in countries from Australia to Spain will enjoy the opportunity to watch Blanca turn her disability into a strength, making her dream of becoming a police profiler a reality while bringing criminals to justice. Viewers now need high-concept series.”
