International broadcasters shake hands over Sky’s supernatural Christian

Edoardo Pesce as lead character Christian

SERIES MANIA: Sky in the UK and Germany, Topic in the US and AMC in Spain are among the international broadcasters to have picked up Sky’s original Italian drama Christian.

The second season of the supernatural crime series will launch on Sky Atlantic this week and French distributor Newen Connect has revealed a raft of sales for the first two seasons at Series Mania in Lille today.

OCS in France, OTE in Greece and Australian pubcaster SBS have also taken the show, which is produced by Italian prodco Lucky Red.

The first season of the supernatural crime series delivered great results for Sky Italia when it launched in early 2022, increasing the average audience share in the Sky Atlantic Friday primetime slot by 20%.

The plot follows the fate of the eponymous hero Christian (Edoardo Pesce), the henchman of local crime boss Lino (Giordano de Plano), who suddenly discovers he has gained mysterious healing powers.

Season two sees Christian forced to learn how to go from petty criminal to saint, from one of the many to the rock of an entire community and his struggle for individual freedom.

Christian is directed by Stefano Lodovichi and Roberto “Saku” Cinardo.
