US indie Industrial Media, the prodco behind ABC’s American Idol, has agreed an overall deal with veteran unscripted producer Todd Hurvitz.

Hurvitz has created and exec produced unscripted series including Ghosts in the Hood (WE tv), Town of the Living Dead (Syfy), Porter Ridge (Discovery Channel), Hack My Life (truTV) and Summer House (Bravo).

He began his unscripted career on MTV’s Punk’d and has also produced series for platforms and networks including VH1, CBS, ABC, Facebook Watch and E!.

Under the deal with Industrial Media, Hurvitz and the prodco will collaborate to develop original series and content in various formats. Hurvitz is currently showrunner on Nickelodeon’s The Substitute, which is produced by Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corp.

“Securing the best development and showrunning talent is critical as we expand to meet the demands of this vibrant marketplace,” said Industrial Media CEO Eli Holzman. “Todd has consistently been one of the most creative and well-rounded producers we know. He has a real gift for storytelling and comedy.”

The agreement marks the fourth overall deal Industrial Media has signed this year, following agreements with Radicle Act, Momentum Content and Fairhaven Films.

Holzman was appointed CEO just over a year ago when the company rebranded from Core Media.
