Industrial, Fairhaven strengthen links

Industrial Media, the US outfit behind ABC’s American Idol, has linked up with director and producer Matthew Galkin’s Fairhaven Films to produce documentaries and films.

The deal extends an existing agreement between the two under which Galkin is producing a limited series for CNBC with Industrial Media’s The Intellectual Property Corp. Galkin is also working on a limited series for Showtime under the Fairhaven banner.

Galkin’s previous TV credits include A&E’s Cultureshock, CNN’s Inside Man and HBO’s Family Bonds. He also directed the movie LoudQUIETloud: A Film About The Pixies and HBO’s I Am an Animal: The Story of Ingrid Newkirk & PETA and Kevorkian.

“When we set out to launch Industrial Media’s New York production hub, Matthew Galkin is exactly the type of partner we envisioned: an exceptional filmmaker who possesses that rare alchemy of directorial talent and producing acumen,” said Industrial Media CEO Eli Holzman.

The deal also follows a pact struck between Industrial Media and US prodco Momentum Content in March to develop and create new programming.

Industrial Media was known as Core Media before rebranding last August following its acquisition of IPC. The prodco includes companies such as 19 Entertainment, B-17 Entertainment, Thumb Candy and Sharp Entertainment.
