Indonesia Entertainment Group to launch new FTA children’s channel

Emtek Group-owned Indonesia Entertainment Group (IEG) is set to launch a new children’s free-to-air channel featuring a mix local and acquired programming.

Dr Hendy Lim, director of content business at IEG, told the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) about IEG’s plans ahead of ATF’s Animation Pitch next month, which Lim has joined as a judge.

Jakarta-based Emtek Group is one of Indonesia’s biggest media conglomerates and operates the FTA channels SCTV, Indosiar and O Channel.

Lim pointed out that these FTA channels do not feature any children’s programming, so an as-yet-unnamed network for children is in the works.

Launching an ad-supported FTA network is a “no-brainer” for the company, Lim said, given the popularity of its pay TV channel for kids, Horee!, and the demand for children’s content among audiences. A launch date has not yet been confirmed.
