I’m a Celebrity goes Dutch

A Dutch broadcaster has greenlit a local version of UK entertainment format I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, following a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE).

RTL5 has commissioned Ik Ben Een Ster, Haal Me Hier Uit! to be produced in Dutch-speaking Suriname, South America. The 8×60’ series will launch in spring 2014.

The 13th UK series of I’m A Celebrity… launched on ITV last November to 13.5 million viewers, making it the most watched programme of 2013 on any UK channel and the biggest launch in the show’s history, according to the broadcaster.

The show sees celebrities dropped into a remote rainforest and compete challenges to be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle.

In related news, ITV Studios (ITVS) will launch a raft of formats at MipTV in April including unscripted formats The Guess List, Pressure Pad, Secret Matchmaker, You Saw Them Here First, Oasis, Show Me The Telly and The Insider. Scripted formats Give Out Girls, Threesome and The Job Lot are also on the slate.

These join Game of Chefs, a primetime competitive cookery format developed by The Lab, the joint venture between ITV Studios and Israel’s Reshet, which has been recommissioned for a second series.

ITVS’s formats slate was previewed to over 100 buyers worldwide at the annual ITV Studios Formats 2014 event, held in London at the end of February.
