ID turns on Arrow’s Body Cam

Body Cam will be the latest partnership between ID and Arrow

US cablenet Investigation Discovery (ID) has ordered a series that aims to allow viewers to share the life-or-death instant decisions made by police officers.

Body Cam will use footage from officers’ cameras combined with first-hand accounts to place viewers in harrowing moments as tension rises.

The 10×60’ series is being produced by UK-based production outfit Arrow Media and will premiere November 27. Arrow’s Nick Metcalfe is attached as executive producer, while Thomas Cutler is senior executive producer for ID.

It is the latest collaboration between Discovery-owned ID and London-based indie Arrow following the order of two homicide-themed series in July.

Nick Metcalfe, exec producer for Arrow Media, said: “This is the most ambitious crime series we have created to date, only made possible by the exceptional access which the team has secured. Using patrol officers’ own personal body cameras, we are able to place the audience right in the moment with that officer.”

Tom Brisley, Arrow’s joint creative director, added: “Arrow’s success is built on exceptional access and this series is no exception. From American Monster and See No Evil to The Devil Speaks, we bring the best of our investigative documentary expertise to this fantastic genre. Getting access to the officers’ body cams changes the viewer experience, giving a visceral insight into what’s really happening on the streets.”
