ID doubles BriteSpark crime order

Investigation Discovery (ID) in the US has greenlit a second factual crime series from Argonon-owned BriteSpark Films.

Did He Do It? (6×60′) will explore real-life murder trials and is being exec produced by London-based BriteSpark’s creative director Nick Godwin. It will be distributed by Paul Heaney’s TCB Media and Argonon International.

The docu-drama is set to air on Investigation Discovery in 2015, having been developed by Godwin, and will present various murder cases in which the guilt or innocence of the accused is too close to call.

The order is the second major international series commissioned by ID from BriteSpark, which was formed in January 2013 as a joint venture between UK indie Argonon and Godwin, former head of documentaries at Cineflix.

The firm is also working on 10-parter Handsome Devils, which was commissioned in November, for the Discovery-owed US cablenet and Slice in Canada.

BriteSpark received its first UK order in February when Channel 5 greenlit a one-hour special about the women who were targeted by serial killer the Yorkshire Ripper but survived.
