Icflix reaches into Iraq

Middle Eastern and North African VoD service Icflix has teamed up with local telecom firm Asiacell to bring its movies and TV series to Iraq.

Dubai-based Icflix will offer Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic movies such as Al Arrab: Taht Al Hazem, Lone Survivor, Grace of Monaco and Need for Speed in Iraq, alongside its original shows.

Icflix started its own productions in 2014 with HIV and Al Makida and last year teamed up with Moroccan director Noureddine Lakhmari to coproduce a film set in Casablanca.

It has also produced Dunia, which Icflix claims to be Arabia’s first teen female superhero animated series.

Asiacell customers will be able to access the Icflix library for a monthly fee of 10,000 IQD (US$8.50), a weekly fee of 4,000 IQD or a daily subscription for 1,200 IQD.
