Hungary’s TV2 and 1+1 in Ukraine take Magnum Media’s The 1% Club

Gameshow format The 1% Club

Broadcasters TV2 in Hungary and 1+1 in Ukraine have picked up Magnum Media in the UK’s entertainment format The 1% Club.

Both local versions will go into production this summer and premiere later this year, marking the first licenses of the show in the CEE region.

Distributed by BBC Studios, The 1% Club is now present in 12 international territories. The format, whose original home is on ITV in the UK, sees 100 contestants attempt to answer increasingly difficult questions, but to make it to the end and win a big cash prize they must correctly answer a question only 1% of the country would get right.

In North America, Amazon’s Prime Video streamer has made a local adaptation its first foray into gameshows and that version will get a broadcast window in the US on Fox.

ITV announced last week that The 1% Club was the biggest gameshow on UK television in 2023 and the channel’s biggest original gameshow in a decade. The show is currently in its third season on ITV, which recently commissioned a further two seasons.
