Hulu scores LA Lakers docuseries

The LA Lakers have been running for 40 years

US streamer Hulu will debut a new documentary series about the Los Angeles Lakers basketball franchise in 2022.

The as-yet-untitled nine-part series will tell the story of the last 40 years of the franchise, featuring interviews with coaches and former players such as Shaquille O’Neal and Magic Johnson.

Jeanie Buss, Lakers CEO and daughter of founder Jerry Buss, exec produces the show along with director Antoine Fuqua for his outfit Fuqua Films.

Also listed as exec producers are Kevin Mann, Michael Mann and Brendan Bragg for LA prodco Haven Entertainment, Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman for the LA Media Fund, Lakers senior executive Linda Rambis and writer Steven Leckart.

The series will be released as a Hulu Original doc and will join series about Hillary Clinton and Greta Thunberg as well as WeWork: Or the Making & Breaking of a US$47 Billion Unicorn and Ask Dr Ruth.
