CONTENT AMERICAS: AMC Networks International (AMCNI) is merging its Southern Europe and Latin American business units under Antonio Ruiz’s leadership, resulting in the departure of Lat Am general manager John Huff.

As part of the restructure, Madrid-based Ruiz, the current executive VP and general manager of AMCNI, Southern Europe, and his management team will assume oversight of the Latin America business, expanding their responsibilities in both regions.

Following a transition period, Miami-based Huff, the current general manager of AMCNI in Lat Am, will leave the company. He has been with AMCNI since joining as finance director in 2016.

Ruiz joined AMCNI from Warner Bros Discover in early 2024. Since then he is credited with consolidating the company’s position as one of the largest producers and distributors of thematic channels and streaming services for the Spanish and Portuguese markets.

The company’s brand portfolio encompasses film, series, documentaries, factual programming, lifestyle, music, and children’s entertainment, including AMC/AMC+, Canal Hollywood, Canal Historia, Canal Cocina, VinTV, and AMC Channels.

AMCNI Latin America provides entertainment to the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its portfolio of channels includes AMC, AMC Series, El Gourmet, Film&Arts and Europa Europa.

Among the members of Ruiz’s management team who are also expanding their roles to include Latin America are Dani Pérez, current VP of programming for the scripted, factual, and documentary brands.

Maurizio Vitale, head of marketing, streaming and brand strategy, will also see his role expanded, along with Mandi Ciriza, who will continue as senior VP of programming for the lifestyle brands and be responsible for production in both regions.

“This unified leadership structure will allow us to deepen collaboration between markets with shared cultural ties, make the most of our combined expertise, and ultimately strengthen our position as a more robust and cohesive organisation,” said Eduardo Zulueta, president of AMCNI.

“With Antonio’s expanded responsibilities in Latin America, we are adding a fully established leader with extensive operational experience. His proven track record of success will be essential to ensuring that we continue to drive internationally acclaimed series and local original productions that resonate with audiences in both regions.”

Zulueta added: “I want to thank John for his leadership, dedication, and the significant contributions he has made to the business. John has played a fundamental role in building the foundation we have today, and we are grateful for his collaboration and support during this transition.”
