Sky Deutschland has taken the Kevin Spacey/David Fincher show in Germany. Distributor Sony Pictures Television has secured further sales with Canal+ in Spain, Zon in Portugal and Digiturk in Turkey.

Other buyers include Belgium’s Be-TV and RUV in Iceland, following on from the Canal+ pick-up in France, first reported by C21 last week.

Netflix will release all 13 episodes of the Media Rights Capital-produced political thriller – a remake of the BBC miniseries of the same name – at the same time on February 1, in the US, UK, Latin America and Canada.

Earlier this week, revealing stellar financial figures, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said House of Cards would mark a “defining moment in the development of internet TV.” The company is now aiming to raise more cash to fund further original series.
