Hotstar demands more Criminal Justice

Hotstar Specials Presents Criminal Justice made its debut last year

Star Media’s Indian SVoD platform Hotstar has greenlit a second season of its local version of BBC drama Criminal Justice.

Mumbai-based Applause Entertainment makes the Indian version of the show, titled Hotstar Specials Presents Criminal Justice, with BBC Studios India.

The first season streamed last year to critical acclaim and won a succession of awards. The cast for season two will again include Pankaj Tripathi, Mita Vashist and Anupriya Goenka.

The original UK version, starring Ben Whishaw, was written by Peter Moffat and aired on BBC1. The plot follows a young man who spends a drunken night with a girl following an impromptu meeting only to wake and find her murdered and him the prime suspect.

It was later adapted by HBO in the US as The Night Of, starring John Turturro and Riz Ahmed.
