HLN to study more Forensic Files

Forensic Files is distributed by GaryLico.TV

CNN’s sister US cablenet HLN has renewed original true crime series Forensic Files II for two further seasons, totalling 32 episodes.

The two 16×30’ runs of the rebooted crime and investigation docuseries will be produced by CNN Program Development, with Nancy Duffy exec producing and actor Bill Camp (The Outsider, The Night Of) narrating.

Episodes will be produced remotely until coronavirus-related restrictions on filming and production are eased or lifted.

HLN, which has exclusive cable rights to the original Forensic Files, was granted additional rights to produce the new series by creator Paul Dowling and his prodco Medstar Television.

GaryLico.TV holds the international sales rights to the show, whose new episodes have been pre-bought by broadcasters including CBS Reality in the UK, Atresmedia in Spain, Australia’s Foxtel, RTL in Germany and eTV in South Africa.

The series breaks down crime cases with the help of scientific evidence and forensic techniques, and uses dramatised recreations to explain the stories behind the cases.

Duffy said: “Our goal was to continue the Forensic Files legacy, telling new stories about how science and advanced forensic techniques are used to crack the most difficult cases, and the loyal Forensic Files fanbase responded enthusiastically.”
