History hails Hoogstra

US cable network History’s Dirk Hoogstra has been rewarded for the success of miniseries Hatfields & McCoys with a promotion.

Hoogstra had been the senior VP for development and programming at History since 2010, executive producing Hatfields & McCoys, which smashed cable ratings records when it aired in May last year.

He now becomes executive VP of development and programming for History and its sister channel H2, reporting to Nancy Dubuc, president of entertainment and media at A+E Networks.

Hoogstra joined History in 2007, having started his career with Discovery Communications in 1995. In 2002, he headed indie prodco Brainbox Productions but returned to Discovery Channel in 2004 as a development producer.
