History develops TV adaptation of dynasty-focused The World: A Family History

A&E Networks-owned US cable network History has optioned the rights to author and historian Simon Sebag Montefiore’s recently published book, The World: A Family History.

The in-development project looks at the world through the lens of family dynasties including the Borgias, the Tudors, the Romanovs and the Khans.

If the project is greenlit, it will be produced by LA-based Karga Seven Pictures.

The book spans centuries, continents and cultures and links together themes of war, migration, plague, religion, medicine and technology.

“Simon has reimagined world history in a way that is brilliant, engaging and funny, reminding us that family is everything – and they just might be coming for your crown,” said Kelly McPherson, co-founder of Karga Seven Pictures.
