History Channel visits Colosseum docuseries with October Films, Motion Content

Colosseum traces several hundred years of the Roman Empire

A+E Networks’ The History Channel in the US is lining up Colosseum, a docuseries about the Roman Empire from October Films and Motion Content Group to launch next month.

The eight-part series brings to life the Roman Empire through the lens of one of the most brutal arenas in the history of humanity and was greenlit last year.

Each episode pinpoints one of eight key and diverse characters, all based on real people from history. Spanning several hundred years, the series unfolds chronologically, from the arena’s opening day to its very last games.

Jim Greayer serves as showrunner for October Films. Executive producers for October Films are head of factual Jos Cushing, head of US factual Chris Muckle and creative director Matt Robins. Series producer is Johanna Woodford Gibbon.

Executive producers for Motion Content Group are CEO Richard Foster and head of US programming Chet Fenster.

Exec producing for The History Channel are exec VP and head of programming Eli Lehrer, senior VP of development and programming Mary E Donahue, VP of development and programming Mike Stiller and director of non-fiction development and programming Brooke Townsend.
