HiddenLight hires from Blast! Films, C4 alums reunited to grow premium unscripted

HiddenLight Productions, the US- and UK-based production company from Hillary and Chelsea Clinton and Sam Branson, has appointed two new senior execs on the production and creative side of the business.

Victoria Bax

Victoria Bax has been appointed as director of production and operations. She joins from Blast! Films where she was head of production.

At HiddenLight, Bax will be responsible for overseeing HiddenLight’s business affairs, commercial and network negotiations as well as its slate of productions.

Bax joined Blast! Films in 2015 as unit manager, later becoming head of production. Her credits include 999: What’s Your Emergency?, Jeremy Kyle Show: Death on Daytime, Liverpool Narcos and Gold Rush: Our Race to Olympic Glory.

Prior to that, she was head of production at Breakthrough Media Network. Her extensive experience includes Production Manager roles at ITV, Uppercut Films, Rain Media, World of Wonder and Plum Pictures.

Amy Flanagan

In addition, Amy Flanagan has been appointed as co-creative director and senior VP of unscripted. In the newly created role, she will work alongside Siobhan Sinnerton, who was appointed creative director and senior VP of unscripted last year. Like Sinnerton, Flanagan will be responsible for growing the company’s slate of premium unscripted content globally.

The appointment reunites Flanagan and Sinnerton, who worked together at Channel 4. As Channel 4’s deputy head of documentaries, then deputy head of factual, Flanagan’s credits include Murder Detectives, Hunted and 24 Hours in Police Custody.

In her subsequent role as co-creative director of factual at Tim Hincks’s and Peter Fincham’s Expectation prodco, her credits include Superkids – Breaking Away from Care and returning series Travels in Trumpland with Ed Balls. Her last role was as head of BBC Studios Documentary Unit where she led the unit’s creative team and strategy.

Both Bax and Flanagan will report to CEO Johnny Webb. Flanagan takes up her HiddenLight role immediately, whilst Bax starts on December 5.
