Hello Sunshine buys SKR in unscripted push

SKR Productions’ Amazon Prime fashion show Making the Cut

Reece Witherspoon’s prodco Hello Sunshine has acquired SKR Productions, the producer behind Amazon Prime fashion competition show Making the Cut.

Sara Rea, who set up SKR in 2014, will become Hello Sunshine’s head of unscripted following the deal, financial details of which were not disclosed.

SKR is also behind the Project Runway spin-offs Project Runway Threads and Project Runway Junior, as well as The Naked Truth and the digital series Pranks Southern Women Play.

It launched its scripted department after taking the exclusive rights to the best-selling novel Whistling Past the Graveyard.

SKR’s Sue Kinkead and Danielle Ghilardi Birckhead will become senior VP, development and senior VP, physical production and operations respectively at Hello Sunshine.

Also crossing over from SKR to Hello Sunshine are Tyler O’Neill and Elizabeth Sandroff, who will serve as senior directors of development.

Hello Sunshine, set up by Witherspoon to produce feature films, scripted and unscripted television, audio storytelling and social series, all with a focus on women, is behind shows such as The Morning Show on Apple TV+ and Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu.

Its unscripted slate currently includes Get Organized on Netflix and competition series My Kind of Country on Apple TV+.
