Headspinner links with YouTube talent

Headspinner Productions, the Toronto-based firm set up by Michelle Melanson and Ken Cuperus, has struck a development deal with Canadian YouTuber Denis Kopotun.

Denis & Me

Headspinner will develop a 2D animated TV series alongside 22-year-old Kopotun, formerly known as Denis Daily, alongside showrunner/producer Diana Moore.

Kopotun has more than six million subscribers and more than two billion views on his YouTube channel Denis.

The series, titled Denis & Me, will be aimed at six- to nine-year-olds and will follow Denis as his eight-year-old self and his infamous business cat sidekick Sir Meows A Lot.

“The Denis YouTube Channel became a staple in my household a few years ago, and I’ve been a massive fan ever since,” said Moore.

“I feel excited about taking my characters to the next stage. I’ve always loved animation and am looking forward to seeing our series find a home and be produced,” added Kopotun.

Headspinner was launched in April by Melanson, former president of Radical Sheep Productions, and Cuperus, co-creator of Canadian sitcom The Stanley Dynamic.
