HBO’s Antholis joins Drama Summit

Kary Antholis, president of HBO miniseries and Cinemax programming, and a key international coproduction figure at the US cablenet, will share his thoughts on current and future development at C21’s International Drama Summit in December.

Antholis has overseen the development and production of HBO miniseries since October 2008 and been responsible for Cinemax’s original programming since 2011.

Most recently, Antholis was programme executive on six-part miniseries Show Me A Hero from producer David Simon, as well as four-part mini Olive Kitteridge, adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Elizabeth Strout and starring Frances McDormand.

Simultaneously, he oversaw the adaptation of JK Rowling’s best-selling novel The Casual Vacancy, in addition to Cinemax original series The Knick, now in its second season, from director Steven Soderbergh and starring Clive Owen.

Previously, he supervised development and production of the Golden Globe and multiple Emmy-winning miniseries Mildred Pierce, starring Kate Winslet; multiple Emmy-winning miniseries John Adams and Generation Kill; epic 10-part event The Pacific; Strike Back, now entering its fourth season; and Banshee, from executive producer Alan Ball, now filming its fourth season, both for Cinemax.

Currently, Antholis is programme executive for the upcoming HBO adaptation of BBC original miniseries Criminal Justice, from director Steven Zaillian; 10-part series Lewis & Clark, starring Casey Affleck and Matthias Schoenaerts; and the forthcoming original Cinemax programmes Outcast, from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, and 1970s period drama Quarry.
