HBO secures Insecure’s return

US premium cablenet HBO is preparing to air a second season of its web show-inspired comedy series Insecure.

HBO Productions’ Insecure debuts on July 23

The second eight-part show again follows the friendship of two black women as they deal with their own real-life flaws while attempting to navigate different worlds and cope with uncomfortable everyday experiences.

The HBO Productions series will debut on July 23 at 10.30ET/PT and will again star the show’s co-creator and exec producer Issa Rae in the lead role.

Rae created the show with Larry Wilmore, while Prentice Penny, Melina Matsoukas, Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry are attached as exec producers. The series is based on Rae’s web show Awkward Black Girl.
