HBO Max takes Bake Off to Mexico

The Great British Bake Off on the UK’s Channel 4

WarnerMedia-owned SVoD service HBO Max has ordered a Mexican version of Love Productions’ Great Bake Off format.

The 10-parter will be produced by WarnerMedia Latin America, which has previously made local versions of the format in Argentina and Chile.

The format features a group of bakers competing in a series of weekly challenges to decide who is the best baker in the land, with one contestant being sent home each week.

The Bake Off format is distributed by BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the UK pubcaster. Original iteration The Great British Bake Off began airing in the UK in 2010 on the BBC before moving to Channel 4 in 2017.

Mexico is the fifth Latin American country to adapt the format, after a deal was inked with Canal 4 In Uruguay earlier this month.

André Renaud, BBC Studios’ senior VP of global format sales, said: “Viewers are hungry to find feel-good and entertaining content across new platforms and services, and our flexible approach at BBC Studios means we work closely with our partners to bring incredible formats like this to a wider audience.
