HBO Max strikes multi-year renewal of streaming movie deal with A24

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD)-owned streamer HBO Max has renewed its US output and library deal with film and TV studio A24 (Euphoria).

The deal means HBO Max will continue to be the exclusive streaming home in the US to A24 movies after their theatrical run.

Over the course of the multi-year deal, HBO Max and HBO in the US will exclusively carry dozens of new A24 titles, including Timothée Chalamet-led Marty Supreme, The Drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson and Enemies starring Jeremy Allen White and Austin Butler, as well as having access to A24’s library.

WBD said the renewal came after a “successful” initial deal, with half of A24’s recently released titles entering the top 10 on HBO Max’s chart in the two weeks after launching.

In addition, the company said that “nearly 70% of HBO Max viewers who watched an A24 film returned for more, watching an average of four titles from the studio.”

Other movie titles set to launch through the deal include The Moment starring Charli XCX, Pillion starring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling and The Death of Robin Hood starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.

It comes ahead of the launch of season three of hit HBO drama series Euphoria, produced in partnership with A24, on April 12.

“A24 has been an incredible partner, bringing a slate of talented creative voices and an engaged audience base to the platform,” said Royce Battleman, executive VP of global content acquisitions.

“Their bold storytelling perfectly complements the distinct programming offered on HBO Max.”
