HBO Max renews comedy-drama And Just Like That… for second season

And Just Like That… debuted on HBO Max in December

WarnerMedia-owned streamer HBO Max has renewed its Sex & the City revival series And Just Like That… for a second season.

The comedy-drama, which picks up 11 years after the second Sex & the City movie, posted the strongest debut of any HBO Max original to date, according to WarnerMedia.

Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, the new iteration of the series premiered on HBO Max in December.

The reboot follows Parker, Davis and Nixon’s characters as they navigate the reality of life and friendship in their 50s.

The original version of the show, created by Darren Star, was based on the book Sex & the City by Candice Bushnell. It aired on HBO between 1998 and 2004.

The new show is executive produced by Michael Patrick King alongside Parker, Nixon, Davis, Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky and John Melfi.

“We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max.

In other news HBO and Italian pubcaster Rai have renewed their drama coproduction My Brilliant Friend for a fourth season.

Created by Saverio Costanzo, and based on Elena Ferrante’s books of the same name. Season four will be based on The Story Of The Lost Child, Ferrante’s fourth book in the series and is a The Apartment, Fremantle Italy, Wildside and Fandango production with Lorenzo Mieli producing for Fremantle Italy.
