HBO Max orders Sony family comedy

WarnerMedia-owned streamer HBO Max has ordered a kids and family comedy series about a 12-year-old Dominican girl who struggles to fit into hedonistic 1980s Miami as her family pursues the American Dream.

From Sony Pictures Television (SPT), Zoe Saldana’s Cinestar Pictures and SPT’s Osprey Productions, Gordita Chronicles is inspired by the personal journey of Claudia Forestieri, who wrote the pilot and will exec produce the series.

Actor Eva Longoria directed the pilot and will also exec produce through her prodco UnbeliEVAble Entertainment.

Exec producing for Osprey Productions are founder Josh Berman, president of development and production Jennifer Robinson and VP of drama development Chris King.

Exec producing for Cinestar Pictures are its founders, sisters Zoe, Mariel and Cisely Saldana. Brigitte Munoz-Liebowitz will exec produce and showrun for Bon Mots Emporium.
