HBO Max Lat Am, Spain’s Filmin TV and Cosmo TV pick up Norwegian dramedy Pørni

Henriette Steenstrup as Pernille in Pørni

SERIES MANIA: WarnerMedia Latin America and Spain’s Filmin TV and Cosmo TV are the first international buyers of Norwegian dramedy Pørni.

Produced by Monster Scripted for NENT Group’s streaming service Viaplay, Pørni (6×30’) was created by and stars Henriette Steenstrup (Ragnarok) and is distributed internationally by Keshet International.

The series follows a middle-aged single parent (Steenstrup) who always puts others first, even though she wants more from life for herself. With a job in child protection services, three teenagers and an ageing father at home to take care of, life as a working parent is not much fun for Pernille, nicknamed Pørni. Moreover, she is grieving for her sister and has a hopeless ex-husband to contend with.

Pørni, which launched on Viaplay in May, is the streamer’s most-watched Norwegian original drama to date, leading the platform to commission a further two 6×30’ seasons. Season two is set to launch next year.

WarnerMedia has acquired the first season for HBO Max, where it will launch in 39 territories across Latin America and the Caribbean. It has also committed to picking up seasons two and three.

Filmin TV has acquired an exclusive first window for all three seasons, while Cosmo TV has picked up the second window rights for seasons one and two.
