HBO Max greenlights first original Spanish adult animation Poor Devil

Poor Devil

WarnerMedia-owned streamer HBO Max has greenlit Poor Devil, its first original adult animation series from Spain.

Production has started on the 8×20’ series, which is written by creators Miguel Esteban, Joaquín Reyes and Ernesto Sevilla and co-written by Helena Pozuelo. Esteban directs.

The show, produced by Buendía Estudios, centres around on Stan, an ordinary boy who also happens to be the Antichrist.

Stan will be voiced by Reyes, while Sevillas will voice his Godfather, Mefisto. The cast also includes Gakian (Samael), Ignatius Farray (Satan) and Verónica Forqué (Rose).

Miguel Salvat, executive producer at HBO Max, said: “We all know people who have had to make a decision whether to join the family business or follow in their parents’ footsteps. Poor Devil, obviously takes this to the extreme and does so in a very funny way, following in the rich tradition of WarnerMedia’s adult animations. I’m expecting a lot of people are going to instantly fall in love with the Stan and his demonic cat.”

Salvat and Antonio Trashorras are the executive producers for HBO Max. Ignacio Corrales (Veneno, La Templanza, G.E.O. Más allá del límite), David Troncoso (Veneno, Museo Coconut) and Sonia Martínez (La cocinera de Castamar) are the executive producers for Buendía Estudios.

The animation process for Poor Devil will take place at Rokyn Animation studios, based in Granada. The series is due to premiere in 2022.
