HBO Max doc to shadow Mark Wahlberg

HBO Max, the forthcoming streaming service from WarnerMedia, has greenlit an eight-part documentary series following Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.

Wahl Street is being produced by Wahlberg’s Unrealistic Ideas prodco and follows the Ted and The Fighter star as he balances his entertainment career with his growing business empire.

Viewers will learn about his successes and failures and glean business and life lessons while also getting to know the cast of characters that make up Wahlberg’s real-life entourage. The series began production in December.

Each episode follow Wahlberg as he navigates his business portfolio, spanning all sectors of commerce, ranging from a line of activewear and sports nutrition supplements to television and film production companies, and even a Chevrolet dealership.

“This series will be an intimate exploration of the drive that makes Mark Wahlberg one of the most unique stars in entertainment,” said Jennifer O’Connell, executive VP of original non-fiction and kids programming at HBO Max.

Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Archie Gips and Liz Bronstein will executive produce the series.

HBO Max is due to launch in the US in May.
