HBO goes inside US men’s World Cup build-up with Park Stories docuseries

US network HBO has commissioned a five-part docuseries following the American men’s soccer team as they prepare for this year’s Fifa World Cup in North America.

Produced by Rand Getlin and Janina Pelayo’s company Park Stories, US Against the World: Four Years with the Men’s National Soccer Team charts the personal and collective journey of players including Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, Tim Weah and Weston McKennie.

Filmed over four years, the series includes footage from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the arrival of new coach Mauricio Pochettino and the race for players to secure their spots in the 2026 World Cup team.

The HBO Sports Documentaries series will premiere on Tuesday May 12, one month before the World Cup begins, in addition to streaming on HBO Max in the US.

It is executive produced by Pelayo and Getlin, produced by Bryce Cyrier and coproduced by Luke Korver. Exec producers for HBO are Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller and Bentley Weiner.
