HBO Europe, Amedia take Years & Years

Emma Thompson stars in BBC and HBO’s Years & Years

HBO Europe and Amedia TV in Russia are among the broadcasters to have picked up scripted content, including Emma Thompson drama Years & Years, from French producer and distributor StudioCanal.

In Europe, StudioCanal has sold BBC and HBO’s Years & Years, BBC medical drama Trust Me and the Iberian rights to Scandi psychological thriller Sanctuary to HBO Europe.

In its first deal in the Benelux region, the distributor has also sold Years & Years, BBC1’s Come Home and Harlan Coben’s The Five to BBC Benelux.

Further afield, HBO Latin American has bought Years & Years and Moscow Noir, striking the first deal for StudioCanal in that region.

Meanwhile, in Russia, StudioCanal has struck another deal with Amedia TV for Years & Years, Sanctuary and The Child in Time, while the distributor has also sold Years & Years, Pros & Cons and The Lawyer to Yes DBS Israel.

Years & Years was made by UK drama specialists Red Productions Company for BBC1, HBO and Canal+.

It was written, created and executive produced by Russell T Davies (Queer as Folk, A Very English Scandal) and stars Thompson as an outspoken politician.
