Banshee’s fourth season is due to air next year

HBO’s Cinemax has reportedly axed crime drama series Banshee, with the fourth season set to be its last.

The show, created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler, revolves around an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania.

It counts Alan Ball (True Blood), Greg Yaitanes (House) and Peter Macdissi (Six Feet Under) among its exec producers, and its fourth run is set to air on Cinemax in 2016.

The cancellation, widely reported by US trade press after TV Line first broke the story, has not yet been confirmed by HBO.
