Hasbro makes Davis content boss

US toy giant Hasbro has promoted the head of its production arm to the newly created role of chief content officer with immediate effect.

As executive VP and chief content officer, Stephen Davis will now be responsible for developing content for Hasbro’s brands such as Transformers and My Little Pony across multiple platforms, reporting to John Frascotti, president of Hasbro Brands.

Davis has overseen LA-based Hasbro Studios, the company’s TV and short-form development, production and international distribution unit, since its launch in 2009. Prior to joining Hasbro in 2009, Davis was CEO of Family Entertainment Group.

The exec will retain oversight of Hasbro Studios, whilst managing the company’s ongoing minority stake in the recently rebranded Discovery Family Channel, formerly known as The Hub Network, alongside Frascotti.

Until October 13, the kids’ network, which is available in nearly 70 million US households, had been operated as a joint venture between Discovery and Hasbro.

Davis will also work closely with Hasbro’s president and CEO Brian Goldner to oversee the company’s film label, AllSpark Pictures, and develop movies based on select Hasbro brands.

The first two films to be produced under the AllSpark Pictures banner are the live-action movie Jem and the Holograms, and a My Little Pony animated feature.
