Canadian series Ride is being produced in partnership with CTV Drama, a cable service owned by Toronto-based broadcaster Bell Media. It will begin shooting in Calgary, Alberta this summer ahead of its premiere in 2023.

The project is based on an original script by husband-and-wife writing team Rebecca Boss and Chris Masi (Our Kind of People, Step Up: High Water). Boss and Masi will serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Sherri Cooper-Landsman (Beauty & the Beast, Brothers & Sisters).

Ride follows a family that forms part of a rodeo dynasty dating back generations, as they attempt to keep their struggling ranch afloat.

Along with Boss, Masi and Cooper-Landsman, the drama is executive produced by Blink49 Studios’ John Morayniss, Carolyn Newman and Virginia Rankin; Nitelite Entertainment’s Greg Gugliotta and FJ Denny; Circle of Confusion’s Elana Barry and Josh Adler; plus Seven24 Films’ Jordy Randall and Tom Cox.

Wynonna Earp and Lost Girl producer Paolo Barzman will direct, in addition to serving as an executive producer. Blink49 Studios will handle the international distribution.

“As we continue to grow our slate of heartfelt and thought-provoking series, we are delighted to get to work with a creative team behind some of our favourite shows, including our talented and creative showrunners, the incredible producing team at Blink49 and award-winning executive producers Greg Gugliotta, Elana Barry and Josh Adler,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive VP, development at Crown Media Family Networks, parent of Hallmark Channel.
