Guru Studio lines up kids’ trio

Guru Studio’s Pikwik, True & the Rainbow Kingdom and Big Blue

Canadian animation producer Guru Studio is heading to Mipcom next week with a trio of children’s series for Disney Junior, CBC Kids and Netflix.

Guru’s line-up includes its latest preschool series Pikwik (52×11′), which will air on Disney Junior in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and India.

The series, about a thoughtful hedgehog and her team of fellow animals who deliver surprise-filled parcels, will also stream in the US exclusively on Hulu following its run on Disney.

Comedy sci-fi adventure series Big Blue (52×11′), meanwhile, is aimed at five- to- nine-year olds and will debut on CBC Kids and ICI Radio-Canada Télé in Canada in 2020.

It follows a pair of sibling underwater adventurers who lead a quirky submarine crew with a magical ocean fairy stowaway while they explore and protect the denizens of a vast ocean-covered planet.

Preschool show True & the Rainbow Kingdom (20×22′) follows a compassionate eight-year-old hero and her feline best friend whose comedic adventures empower girls and boys to be mindful, courageous and respectful of all living things.

The show was recently renewed by Netflix for a fourth season and also airs in Canada on CBC.

Toronto-based Guru is led by president and executive creative director Frank Falcone and is behind the children’s series Justin Time (74×11’/2×22′), which now airs in over 135 countries worldwide.
