Greece’s Alpha TV remakes local version of Nippon TV’s global drama hit Mother

Alpha TV’s remake of Mother will be the 11th local adaptation of the show

MIPCOM: Greece’s Alpha TV has become the latest broadcaster to join a growing list of remakes of Nippon TV’s global drama hit Mother.

The new format deal for the hit Japanese series was unveiled here in Cannes by Sally Yamamoto, scripted format licensing exec at Nippon TV and Christos Kompos, programme director of Alpha TV.

The Greek version will air on Alpha TV in 2025 as one of its season highlights as Na me les mama (Call me Mom), said Kompos.

The emotion-laden drama of a primary teacher who takes a child suffering maternal abuse under her wing, has resonated globally in raising awareness of such societal issues.

Alpha TV’s remake of Mother (11×60’) will be the 11th local adaptation of the show, which continues to reign as the most globally adapted Asian scripted format.

Previous format licenses include CJ ENM in South Korea; MF Yapim in Turkey; STB TV in Ukraine; Juvenile in Thailand; Radiant Pictures in China; Incognita in France; Atresmedia in Spain; Medyapim for MBC in Saudi Arabia; Green Show Productions in Mongolia; and ABS-CBN in the Philippines.
