Granada to debut Pocoyo in Cannes, Fry to narrate

Comedian Stephen Fry will narrate the UK version of Zinkia’s long-awaited pre-school animation Pocoyo. At the same time, Granada International is set to launch the toon in Cannes.

Written by Andy Yerkes (Bear in the Big Blue House), the cgi series debuts on CiTV in the autumn in the UK. Granada International, which holds worldwide rights, will be bringing the (52×7′) series to the international market for the first time at Mip TV in April. Pocoyo centres on a curious young child and his friends Elly the graceful pink elephant, Pato the shy yellow duck, Loula his spotty dog and Sleepy Bird.

Emmanuelle Namiech, head of kids at Granada International, said: “We’ve ensured that the series is not just visually appealing, but also stimulates the imagination and opens children’s minds to new ideas and concepts. We believe Pocoyo is an exceptional pre-school series and will be a must have for broadcasters around the world.”

Delivery of the first 26 episodes is scheduled for the summer and delivery of the remaining 26 episodes in winter 2006. Granada International holds worldwide rights excluding Spain, Italy, Portugal and Latin America, which are being handled by Zinkia Entertainment.
