Gold Rush star Todd Hoffman brings Family to Discovery with new series

Discovery has commissioned a new series fronted by Todd Hoffman, a miner who shot to fame as part of the US cablenet’s long-running reality hit Gold Rush.

Hoffman Family Gold (working title) will debut next year on Discovery and streaming service Discovery+, produced by Lionsgate-owned Pilgrim Media Group.

The series follows Hoffman as he uses his life savings to attempt to turn around a distressed mine located nearly 100 miles north of Nome, Alaska.

Craig Piligian and Mike Nichols are the executive producers for Pilgrim. For Discovery Channel, Michael Gara is exec producer and Greg Wolf is coordinating producer.

Gold Rush, produced by Raw TV, entered its 12th season on Discovery last week. Hoffman starred in the show until his departure in 2018.

In related news, Discovery+ has commissioned a second season of crossover format Naked & Afraid of Love. The dating format follows 16 strangers looking for love while taking part in a survival challenge in the nude.

The series is produced for Discovery by Entertainment One-owned Renegade 83, whose David Garfinkle, Jay Renfroe and Jay Bienstock exec produce. Joseph Boyle and Michael Gara exec produce for Discovery, with Paola Espinosa as associate producer.
