Globo heads to Content Americas with streaming originals in tow

Globo will launch original series such as Living On A Razor’s Edge (working title)

Brazil’s Globo will launch a crop of streaming originals on the international market at Content Americas in Miami later this month, including premium dramas, a documentary series and youth-skewing scripted.

Globoplay original series such as drama The End, documentary series Carved In Stone (working title), biographic Living On A Razor’s Edge (w/t) and youth-skewing series Vicky & The Muse (w/t) and Monica & Friends: How It All began will be presented for the first time to the international market during Content Americas.

Globo executives will also participate in panels and host a screening of a new project at the near sold-out event, which kicks off on January 23 and runs until January 25 at the Hilton Miami Downtown.

Globo operates the leading audience broadcaster in Brazil, more than 20 pay TV channels and the Globoplay streaming platform, in addition to the production division Estudios Globo.

The broadcaster will also be shopping recent TV Globo titles including Crossed Paths, Land of Desire and Perfect Love as well as scripted formats such as The Favorite, The Life We Lead, Hidden Truths, Above Justice and Where My Heart Is.

This comes after the broadcaster opened up its local fiction formats for sale to the international market as a new business strategy towards the end of 2023.

This strategy began with Turkish production company Ay Yapim taking the rights to adapt Avenida Brasil, one of the most successful soap operas in Globo’s history.

“Content Americas is the first event of 2024 and we will reinforce all our possibilities and business solutions in this market,” said Angela Colla, Globo’s head of international business and coproductions.

“It is important to highlight that we have a varied portfolio, with series, documentaries, as well as formats that can be adapted for local productions. These are titles to win over all types of audiences, with themes that the audience is looking for. In addition, Content Americas is also an opportunity to have talks with potential partners aimed at coproduction projects.”

Content Americas 2024 is focused on connecting the Lat Am, domestic US and international business to develop new creative partnerships and follows the successful inaugural edition of the event in 2023.

As the 2024 event heads towards a sell-out edition, C21Media has recently announced Content Americas 2025 will take place between 21-23 January 2025.
