Globo heads for MipTV with streaming originals, telenovelas, true crime shows

Globoplay original All the Flowers

Brazilian broadcaster Globo’s distribution arm is attending MipTV next month with a slate that includes streaming-first titles such as All the Flowers.

Globoplay original All the Flowers, written by João Emanuel Carneiro (Brazil Avenue), was created and developed for the broadcaster’s streaming service and is described as a contemporary thriller combined with a love story.

Globo will also be presenting to buyers telenovela Never Give Up, which is currently on air in Brazil and is written by Rosane Svartman (Total Dreamer, A Life Worth Living), and true-crime docuseries Flordelis: Doubt or Worship, which follows the congresswoman investigated for killing her husband. Another title, On Behalf of God, follows the story of medium João de Deus, who was convicted of the rape of nine women.

Globo also has the second season of We Are Five, which follows the lives of five friends and discusses themes such as social inequity, racism, sexuality and religion, as well as Rota 66: The Killer Unit. MipTV takes place in Cannes between April 17 and 19.

“Our presence in this event shows that we are open to new partnerships and business models, so that we can take our stories further,” said Fabio Mauro, sales manager at Globo.
